Why I love sailor trousers…..and how to wear trousers that flatter your body.

Sailor trousers. Love them! Read on to find out why….sailor-trousers

But actually, this post could be called a few things…..

#1 Why I love sailor trousers

#2 How to disguise a tummy

#3 Why having a good life is more important than a flat stomach

I think I’ll start with Number 2!

So what I really love about these trousers is the way the buttons are angled so they draw the eye outwards and away from the tummy area. I made a decision I am not willing to do what it takes to have a flat stomach (sorry trainer!) and forego delicious meals out, and do endless sit up’s every morning.

Respect to you Madonna et al, who maintain washboard flat stomachs well into mid life and beyond…  but honestly that’s not for me.

I know what it takes to achieve washboard stomach perfection and I hold my hands up and admit I am not willing to do it (anyone resonate with this?! Share below in the comments!)

So I am always on the lookout for trousers that flatter. Those that allow a well fed stomach to be with ease, yet downplay it’s curves.

And these beauties do just that!

I found these sailor trousers at H&M and they are a snip for a one season wonder. The cut is great, and I love the colour and the lines of those buttons are my friend 😉

And guess what? I just spotted these sailor trousers are actually half price in the sale right now!

You can thank me later 😉

sailor-trousers One of the staples in my wardrobe is a beautiful silk shirt. This one is from Equipment.

They wash and wear beautifully. At the start I drycleaned, but honestly I don’t think it’s worth it and they come out just as well handwashed and ironed (not by me, mind! I know where my strengths lie and it’s not in ironing that’s for sure!)

Watch out for the cut when you order. I mistakenly bought a divine blush pink shirt but in a different cut and it swamped me. All my jetting around meant I didn’t get to return it in time so it now lives in my PA’s wardrobe (ummm, slightly envious!)

Zara are also great for silk blouses, although they don’t last as long. This jacket is from Zara too. They do great little jackets.

sailor-trousers Last but not least is the cute necklace I paired them with from….wait for it, New Look. Yes! You would never guess right?!

Those of you who have been following me for a while will know that I am relatively new in the world of jewellery owning, and it’s only a couple of years in… I was kinda late on this one. I’m in the process of discovering my tastes in jewellery and as always, my budget doesn’t yet match my tastes (do you ever feel that way?!)

When I find a beautifully designed high street piece I snap it up. There’s some great jewellery designers working for some of the high street brands (Check out And Other Stories for their jewellery pieces)

Diamonds are still on the vision board (just saying Universe…. ;-))
